I am having difficulty deciding what race/class combination to go with for my new character. I'm thinking I'd like to go with either a hunter or druid with a focus on pvp.
The true question is should I set up on my established realm or a brand new one?
The benefits of making this new character on firetree is obvious. I would have resources to make it a great character that is much easier to level. I would be able to provide it with bags so I don't have to worry about bag space. It would be much more comfortable. Plus, I don't intend for this to be a leveling guide so proving I can do well on a new realm doesn't mean a lot.
That being said, a new realm would afford a change of pace. I could play horde instead of alliance. And a fresh start is sometimes a nice change as well.
Again, I have to make sure I achieve my goals for this site. The focus will be fairly broad at first. Aiming to show some of the basics of the game and then lead to more specific class issues. Eventually I hope to relate my experience with leveling every class in WoW. I currently have a priest and rogue in the 40s, and paladin and mage in the 30s. (Just to put it in perspective I'm definitely not hardcore, there are a few guys in my guild who have four level 70s.)
Well, I'll put a little more thought into my choice and then get to work.

The Beginning
I have decided to give a direction to my blogging. Before now I have written without purpose nor any rhyme or reason. This blog will be dedicated strictly toward World of Warcraft. My initial idea has been to use it as a training ground to inform the uninitiated. Tips, tricks, tactics for this very popular MMO. The initial posts will be in regard to various aspects of starting up a new character and making it easier to play.
Some may question my credentials as a player and that is ok. If you find this site I hope you read this introduction and allow me to guide you.
A little bit about myself. I am a college journalism student and I have gamed all my life. Before WoW I played City of Heroes, Star Wars: Galaxies, and Everquest II. WoW is the only MMO I have stuck with and I enjoy playing. My first level 60 was my warlock Velzic on the pvp realm Firetree. I started that character because my good friend and former roommate had a paladin named Soluxus on there and I wanted to game with someone I knew. I have had a bit of "alt-itis" since coming to Firetree and now have a 70 warrior named Silenna and a 70 shaman named Keyvlynn. All three of these characters are in a great guild named Ars Praelium whose roots started in the Ars Technica forums.
My goal with this blog is for it to be informative and interactive. I wish for people to view this and give constructive criticism in comments as well as learn from my own content. Within the next couple weeks I will take you through my process of creating a new character and getting through the early stages of leveling. I would love to take comments for suggestions on the race and class of my new character that I'll use for what could be seen as an in-depth guide.
Regards
